About SnapTimer
SnapTimer is a free online timer, stopwatch, and alarm clock that runs entirely in your browser — built for classrooms, kitchens, workouts, and work sessions.
What it does
Pick a preset or set a custom duration and the countdown starts instantly — no download, no signup. The stopwatch tracks laps to the hundredth of a second, and the alarm clock rings at any time you choose while the page stays open. There are also 12 dedicated pages for specific durations (from a 1 minute timer up to a 1 hour timer) plus a Pomodoro timer, each preloaded and ready to go.
How the countdown stays accurate
The timer is timestamp-based rather than tied to the page staying visible, so it keeps accurate time even if you switch to another tab — and the time remaining shows right in the browser tab's title so you can keep an eye on it while you work on something else.
Guides
Alongside the tools, we publish practical guides on using timed intervals for focus, studying, cooking, exercise and teaching, so you can get more from each countdown.
What SnapTimer stores
Nothing you set is sent to a server. Your alarms and preferences (like the sound toggle) are kept only in your own browser's local storage, so they're still there next time you open SnapTimer on the same device — and they disappear if you clear your browser's site data. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture, including the cookies used by ads and analytics.
What SnapTimer doesn't do
- No accounts, no signup, no login
- No server-side database of your timers or alarms
- No selling or sharing of anything you set
How it's funded
SnapTimer is free to use, supported by Google AdSense advertising, which keeps the site running without a paywall or usage limits. Ads never affect how the timer, stopwatch, or alarm behaves.
Editorial standards
The guides and page copy on SnapTimer are written and maintained by the SnapTimer team at Romeck LLC. Our aim is practical, accurate help for people who time things: cooks, students, teachers, trainers and anyone managing their day.
- The tool is described as it behaves. Statements about how the timer, stopwatch and alarm work (for example, that the countdown is calculated from your device clock and that alarms ring only while a page is open) describe the code that runs on this site.
- Health, safety and food guidance is general. Where we mention exercise, eye care, tooth brushing or cooking times, we give commonly cited ranges and point to professional or official guidance. Nothing here is medical, dental, dietary or food-safety advice, and for meat and poultry we recommend a thermometer rather than time alone.
- Pages show when they were last reviewed. Each page lists a review date near the top.
- Advertising does not decide what we write. SnapTimer is funded by Google AdSense, but ads do not influence what the guides recommend.
- Corrections are welcome. If you spot an error or outdated statement, email hello@snaptimer.online and we will review it.
